Te Mata Road Water Main Replacement, Havelock North

The replacement of an older 100mm Asbestos pipeline in Te Mata Rd to upgrade to a 150mm PVC pipe.

This was completed for City Care (as they were the HDC maintenance contractor at the time) and was too big for them to complete.

The old asbestos main was constantly bursting and needed replacing right away. Not only was it a danger to the hundreds of school children who walked over it each day, it was also an ongoing headache for the residents it serviced, who could be without water for long periods until it was repaired.

As one of Drainways first water projects on the roadway for the Hastings Council, Drainways was called in at short notice to fix the problem. Despite having to fit the job into a hectic schedule, the team put in the extra hours to complete the work in under a month, with minimal disruption to the public or adjoining property owners.
